In terms of features, Allstate home insurance stacks up pretty well against the competition. As shown above, they mostly cover what you’d expect.
Though they don’t have an enhanced deductible waiver for large claims, they do have a “disappearing deductible” which reduces your deductible over time for all claims. And though they don’t have specific coverage for “green” upgrades, they do have a lot of nice discounts.

Allstate home insurance has some optional add-ons that could save you money if you’re a loyal, claim-free customer. First is the disappearing deductible, which is when your deductible gets smaller each year you don’t make a claim. On top of that, you can also get a rebate if you don’t have any claims that year.
You can get extra discounts if you qualify
Most home insurance companies provide discounts for having your home and auto insurance with them, or for having a home security system. Allstate also gives a discount if you have a water detection device and lowers your premium if you're mortgage-free. By combining these discounts, you can save even more money.
Allstate agents are company employees
Allstate sells their insurance from company offices, not through insurance brokers. Their agents sell only Allstate products so they should be knowledgeable and responsive. As a test, I submitted a quote request through their web site. I got an estimated premium immediately, then received a follow-up email from an agent less than half an hour later.
