Our rating for Moka: 3.3 stars

Moka is certainly an interesting product, with plenty of innovative features you probably haven't seen before. If you're looking for a no-brainer way to invest, this is it.

But Moka doesn't have some of the more robust features you would expect to find on other investment portfolio services, like tax-loss harvesting. They also currently don't have a promotion to reel you in.

Rating methodology

We consider all aspects of a robo advisor, including fees, investment options, minimum investment amount, access to support, perks, customer satisfaction, and promotions, to assess its overall value. What to watch out for with Moka

And of course, there are a few things to keep in mind as well.

Cons

conBe aware of MER fees

On top of the $20 monthly fee, you should also be aware of the MER that the ETF investment portfolio will cost you. For a normal account, these are between 0.09% and 0.39%. These are pretty low fees comparatively, but should still be kept in mind.

conTransfer fees up to $50 on RRSP withdrawals

If you open an RRSP account with Moka and have to withdraw your funds, you'll pay $25 for a partial withdrawal and $50 for a full withdrawal. This is pretty standard, but still good to keep in mind. The good news is they don't have withdrawal fees for the non-registered or TFSA accounts.
