Car Loans Canada turns the car buying process upside down by getting you pre-approved for a loan before you even start browsing vehicles to buy. After filling out an application on their website, you work with a loan specialist who matches you with a lender based on your eligibility. Their goal is to get your finances figured out early to save you the frustration of being rejected for financing on a car you really like.

If you have bad credit, they’ll work with you to get pre-approved. The application process is easy, but does require a lot of information up front. Car Loans Canada doesn’t run a hard credit check on you – that happens later when you apply for the loan. And while they’re essentially just pairing you up with a lender, it could be a good option to know what you’re working with before you visit a car dealership. Here’s our Car Loans Canada review.

Car Loans Canada product rating: 2.3 stars

Car Loans Canada makes it easy to find a car loan that's right for you. By using their simple application process, you'll get to sort through a variety of car loans that you're already prequalified for, saving you time and frustration. And it doesn't even require a hard credit check to get started, so there's no impact on your credit score until you actually apply for one of the loans.

On the flip side, however, the application process does require that you give over quite a lot of personal information, including your name, address, employment status, income, and employer, among other things. Given that Car Loans Canada is a third party site that isn't directly involved with the loan process itself, this might put a few people off.

Rating methodology

To calculate our Genius Ratings, we compare the features of the account or product in question with other similar products in Canada. We give each feature a score out of 5 based on that comparison. Once we’ve rated all the features, we run them through our proprietary algorithm to produce a final rating out of 5.

The pros of Car Loans Canada

Here are a few of the things Car Loans Canada has going for it.

Pros

pro Quick and easy to get started

Car Loans Canada helps you sort through loans available from a wide range of lenders in Canada, saving you a bunch of time doing your own research. You can start the process off in as little as 2 minutes by filling out a Car Loans Canada application, that will help them find the right loans for you, and even ensure you're pre-approved.

pro Doesn't impact your credit score (yet)

The Car Loans Canada application process doesn't involve a hard credit check, so there is no impact on your credit score at all. When you actually apply for one of the loans, however, there will be a hard credit check, but that's just a normal part of the process.

pro Will help you find car loans for bad credit

Car Loans Canada says that they're able to help people with bad credit find car loans. While this may be true, you'll want to keep an eye on those interest rates – there are lenders out there who are willing to risk loans for bad credit, but you'll pay dearly for them with high interest charges. It might be in your best interests to try improving your credit score instead, since high interest debt can just make your situation even worse.

The cons of Car Loans Canada

There are a few things you'll want to keep in mind with Car Loans Canada.

Cons

conNot a lender, just a loan matchmaking service

Car Loans Canada isn't a lender, and will not be the company actually giving you any money. They are a loan matchmaking service, collecting your personal information and using that to sift through a database of available loans to find the best ones available to you.

conRequires a lot of personal information up front

The Car Loans Canada application process collects enough personal information to evaluate your eligibility for loans, and not everyone is going to be comfortable handing over that much information to a third party company. If you start the application process and find yourself less than comfortable with the information required, you can stop at any time.

conCannot complete the process entirely online

After you complete a Car Loans Canada application, you'll have to wait for a loan specialist to get in touch with you. Given how much we can just do online these days, this might be a little frustrating for some people.

How quickly can I get a loan through Car Loans Canada?

Is Car Loans Canada legit?

Yes. Car Loans Canada connects buyers with lenders. They help consumers determine their financial eligibility and get pre-approved for vehicle financing, which gives them valuable information before looking for a car. Typically, customers don’t find out if they qualify for a loan until after they’ve chosen a car they like, which can make being rejected frustrating all around.

Was interested in possibly finding a new car, so I can start my turbo build on mine. I had some sales people contact me and I told them I was not interested at the time. Around 10 months later they called me again, and I ended up getting a car from. Them. Great sales man that was into the same cars as I was. Sent him photos of the build and ect… Now it’s time for delivery, The insurance they tried to get me declined because of a speeding ticket. So they paid the ticket and got insurance on it so I I could drive it at delivery. They drove it 325 KM to my house. Arrived at like almost 10:00 at night, Got me to sign my papers, they brought a witness for the whole process. (One in my car and one in their car) And they left on their way. In the morning I noticed the car had been detailed like they said it was. But it was done very poorly, I found make up brushes amongst other items in the interior door pockets, left tons of streaks on the interior plastics. I found broken glass just under the seat, (cars fax history shows glass replacement) Under the hood has not been cleaned, some bolts not seated correctly. Missing covers for fuses on battery. They contacted me a couple weeks later just asking how I’m liking the car (2017 Kia Forte5 Turbo), I told them what I mentioned above but it’s just little things, overall a great car. (Rebuilt after front end “collision”) They basically just brushed off my little comments and said sorry. About 4 months after owning the car they never contacted me.. I’m getting calls all the time with other dealers trying to take my new car in on trade for a more luxury sports type car that I’ve mentioned I am into. The random dealers are saying I could get a lower interest rate due to my credit score coming up. So all my super personal data with carloanscanada, com was sold out after I financed the Kia. I noticed my VIN is not recognized on the Kia website. Not sure if it’s just not compatible with the site, or if this is a major red flag of a VIN swap. I continue on owning the car, no problems at all took it to the Kia dealer for a level 2 service without any problems. VIN might be fine.(still unsure) But now when I try to contact my sales man I talked to the whole time. He doesn’t reply to my texts/calls. So I send him an email and the email fails to send due to address not existing anymore. (xxxxx@carloanscan,com) So I texted one other contact I had from the company, it was the delivery guy and he also doesn’t reply to my texts/calls. Only got his phone number. So I continue on owning the car it’s been maybe just over half a year, my turbo is making some bad sounds and throwing a check engine light every now and then, definitely a loss in low end power and throttle response. So now I really want to get in touch with anyone about my warranty. I thought i received warranty information but I did not, I still have the stack of papers I got from delivery and nothing about warranty, other then on the loan showing the price of it. I’m trying to call number on their website but then realized their not the ones with the info as the car came from a different dealer that I’m unsure of. I have single piece of paper with their logo/name on it. I haven’t tried to contact them yet as I just remembered I have that paper. But my final thoughts is that this company is sh!t and just sells all your info. Sure they got me into a car but what good is paying for warranty when you have 0 info on warranty, and no contact or name of company with warranty information. Not sure if my sales man got fired, or quit or just ditched me. He could have died for all I know. He was the only contact i had for any information other then my Loan company. Santander consumer. I would say stay away from CarLoansCanada or similar companies. Stay local, find a dealer in your town or surrounding area you can go into and actually interact face to face for the whole process getting a car.

Not there to assist in a car loan but to sell your information to car dealerships
I found a vehicle I wanted to buy, so I searched google for the best rates. https://www.carloanscanada.com/rates came up so I filled out my information. The following day some slime ball car salesman calls me trying to sell me a car. They don't assist you in arranging vehicle financing, they are a way to sell leads to car lots and sales people. Disgusting tactics and unethical. If your purpose is to sell cars say so. Misleading to present yourself as a way to arrange financing when all you are here to do is sell cars.
