PC Express product rating: 4.2

PC Express serves a wide area and offers decent store variety. The PC Express pass subscription is also very valuable, as it gives you a 2% return on orders and unlimited free delivery. PC Express's freshness guarantee is another positive in its favour.

Given that it only works for Loblaw family stores, though, PC Express lacks the versatility of some other online grocery services.

Rating methodology

To evaluate grocery delivery services, we analyze over 10 data points to generate a trustworthy Genius Rating. We consider all aspects of a grocery delivery service, including fees, wait windows, variety of stores, customer satisfaction, and promotions, to assess its overall value. The pros of PC Express

Here are some of the biggest benefits of PC Express:

Pros

proAvailable across Canada

PC Express is available pretty much anywhere that's near a Loblaws-owned grocery store. These include: Loblaws, No Frills, Independent, Valu-Mart, Wholesale Club, Real Canadian Superstore, Real Atlantic Superstore, Maxi, Fortinos, Zehrs, CityMarket, and more.

proIn-store prices and promos

All of the items you order through PC Express are the same price as they would be in store, with promotions included. You still may have to pay extra for the speed and delivery of your order, but it's good to know that the items themselves aren't marked up with hidden fees.

pro$75 in PC Optimum points on your first 5 orders

You can get 15,000 PC Optimum Points (worth $15) and each of your first 5 online grocery orders with PC Express by using the code PART15 at checkout. That's a total of 75,000 PC Optimum points, or $75. Just make sure you use the code for each of your 5 orders.

proReduced subscription price promotion lets you save $70

There is currently a promotion where you can get your first year of PC Express pass for just $29.99 (it's usually $99.99, so you save $70). That works out to $2.50 per month. The promotion is available to customers who have not previously subscribed, and it ends on April 30th, 2026. Just use the code PART250 when subscribing.

proFreshness guaranteed

Produce delivery can often be subpar when ordering groceries online – but not with PC Express. Their personal shoppers pick the best produce available, or you get your money back.

proCollect points to earn free groceries

You'll automatically earn PC Optimum rewards points as you order groceries for pickup or delivery, which can then be used to save money on groceries. It's an easy-to-understand system that saves you money in the long run.

proGood mobile app

PC Express has a well-designed and easy-to-use mobile app for both iPhones and Android devices. This makes it easy to create and place your orders, no matter where you are.

proOpportunity for annual fee waiver

If you have the PC Insiders World Elite Mastercard and sign up for PC Express, your annual PC Express membership fee is waived.

The cons of PC Express

Here are some of PC Express's drawbacks:

Cons

conSubject to availability

If your local Loblaws grocery store doesn’t carry a particular item, you’re out of luck. They don’t bring items in from other locations to fulfill your order. It’s a little thing, but it would be nice if this were available.

conSometimes substitutions aren’t great

If you’ve ordered something that’s out of stock or otherwise unavailable when your order is fulfilled, they’ll substitute a similar product at a similar price. These substitutions aren’t always the best (sometimes they’re just wrong), but they do warn you about any substitutions before you pick up your order. You have a chance to either swap something else in, or just refuse the new item altogether.

PC Express FAQ

Is the PC Express worth it?

If you’re short on time, PC Express can be a lifesaver. Some people also find that by using the service, they do a better job of sticking to a budget and not buying impulse items. For the premium version, it depends on how often you get groceries and how expensive they are.

Are groceries more expensive on PC Express?

No, they're not more expensive. The base price of your grocery items is the same as it is in the store. However, PC Express does charge fees based on how quickly you want your order and whether or not it’s picked up or delivered.

What are the benefits of a PC Express Pass?

A few benefits include earning PC Optimum points (2% back) with pickup orders, unlimited free delivery and pickup, exclusive members-only deals, and more points with subscribe and earn products. This premium subscription also gives you reduced fees for rapid delivery orders.

Who picks PC Express orders?

With PC Express, your order is handpicked by personal shoppers who work in-store. This way, you know you’re getting the freshest possible produce and foods. Personal shoppers can also provide similarly-priced substitutes if certain items on your list are out of stock or otherwise unavialable.

Do you tip PC Express delivery?

While tipping isn't expected or required for PC Express deliveries, it's certainly a kind and generous gesture. Tipping through the app isn't available for all store locations, but some do offer this feature. If it's an option, you can add it when you check out.

The worst grocery delivery service
Hard To Use
I'm disabled so I get almost all of my groceries delivered. I use several services so I can comparison shop for the best prices. Out of all of them, PC Express is the worst. I only order from them when I want a PC product that I can't get elsewhere. They don't give my apartment number to the drivers, most of whom don't speak a word of English. So when they're on the way to deliver, they start calling me to ask for the number. Except they can't figure out the call screening service I use, so they leave multiple garbled messages instead of just texting me. If they do get through, they can't understand me. I often have to go down to the lobby to meet them. Or, they dump my order in a random place and leave. Communication is poor. They often send text updates after the fact. And they don't always notify about substitutions. I'll get a message that the order is on its way when it's been dumped outside my door (without knocking). I had to invest in a doorbell camera so I know when my order is there. Almost every time I order, I get random items I didn't order and can't use. I've also received rotted produce and damaged packaging along with broken eggs. They also freeze money in my bank account by billing me two or three times for the same order, in different amounts. Then it takes days for the extra holds to come off. I've had to transfer funds from my other account to cover bill payments that would have bounced because PC Express double billed me and it took a week for the extra hold to be removed. Other grocers just do one hold for the original amount of the order, then return it and charge the updated amount the next day. In addition, PC Express often overcharges and I have to call them to get it fixed. And, when I ask to cash in PC points, they don't do it 50% of the time.

BAD experiences most times
Absolutely garbage service! 90% of the time wrong or missing items on delivery. Drivers left with no items to pick up or no boxes for your items. App is a joke, it has so many issues. It’s also missing countless store items, like only a veggie pizza, no other options I know they always have in store. It got even worse lately. I prefers 33 items and got 9 delivered yet charged for 33. Complaining to customer service I got 20 more item and still missing some, some are incorrect items and some I didn’t even order.. Still on review for a refund. Do not use this service!

Terrible delivery!!
We leave in a condo building. The delivery guy left our delivery several boxes with produce, etc. in front of the building and left, our address and unit number is in our order. This guy didn’t even reach us on the intercom to let us know he arrived to give him access to the building and unit. I had a knee surgery recently, my wife had to go downstairs and bring up each box one at a time to the unit. This is terrible!!

Dont use PC express
Horrible! Got scammed by their shopper/driver who purchased things for themselves and added it to my total. PC did nothing to resolve this, not even an apology.

Almost lost my mind trying to cancel an order
Horrible service, you get pingponged between so many different people to solve an issue and the issue doesnt get solved. Massive regret, worst customer experience service that I've ever had!
