1Password is a simple and secure service that lets you generate, store, and sync passwords for all of your apps across all of your devices. Initially released in 2006, 1Password has since grown to support millions of users, and has expanded its product to include more tools to help protect users, including security breach alerts, phishing protection, and protection against keylogger software.
And with support for most operating systems, devices, and browsers, 1Password will help you be more secure online by taking all of the complexity out of password management. And all of this for a very reasonable monthly fee.

1Password product rating: 1.1 stars
1Password is a well-known, robust, secure password management system that has been around for years and has millions of users. Available for most operating systems and devices, it offers a simple way to stay more secure, no matter how you're accessing the internet. And with top of the line privacy protections, you can be sure that they are unable to divulge your information to anyone. The main drawback is the lack of real-time customer support.
Rating methodology
To calculate our Genius Ratings, we compare the features of the account or product in question with other similar products in Canada. We give each feature a score out of 5 based on that comparison. Once we’ve rated all the features, we run them through our proprietary algorithm to produce a final rating out of 5.

The pros of 1Password
1Password offers a comprehensive set of features for a reasonable price.
Top of the line privacy and security
1Password is able to boast that it has (to date) never been hacked. And even if it was, your information would still be safe since it's protected by encryption with multiple failsafes, meaning you're the only one who can access it. Ever. They also collect a minimal amount of personally identifiable information, and never share that with 3rd parties.
Security breach alerts
1Password has a feature called Watchtower that will alert you when there are security problems or password breaches to the items you have saved. This means you'll know right away if your account information is compromised so you can change your passwords immediately.
Phishing and keylogger protection
With 1Password you're protected from phishing attempts because it will only fill in your account details on sites where you saved them. Where we're all human and can be fooled by convincing fake websites, 1Password can't be tricked in the same way. Also, since 1Password uses secure input fields, it prevents other software from being able to figure out what you're typing, including when you enter your Master Password.
Automatically scrubs your clipboard
1Password regularly removes item details from your clipboard if you've copied them, preventing other people or software from being able to access that information, either purposefully or by accident.
Available for most operating systems, devices, and browsers
You can use 1Password on macOS, iOS, Windows, Android, Linux, Chrome OS, or from the command line. They also ship extensions for Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Brave browsers. Whatever computer, mobile device, or browser you're using, 1Password is probably available.
The cons of 1Password
There are a couple of drawbacks to 1Password to keep in mind, however.
Free trial is only 14 days
While you're able to take 1Password for a test drive before paying any money, the free trial only lasts for 14 days. There are many accounts, apps, and websites we use less frequently than that, however, so it's hard to get a real feel for how a password manager is going to work in such a short time.

FAQ
Has 1Password ever been hacked?
1Password claims that they have never been hacked. That doesn't mean it will never happen, of course, but even if it does, their security and privacy technologies ensure that no one else can read your information, even if they manage to get at it.
What if someone hacks into 1Password?
1Password uses high grade encryption such that your information is secured both in transit and when stored on their servers. If they are hacked, your data is still secure as the hackers will not have the private keys needed to decrypt it.
How much does 1Password cost?
1Password pricing starts at US$2.99 per month for an individual and US$4.99 per month for a family (up to 5 people). Custom pricing is available for larger companies or organizations, which includes a dedicated account manager, customized setup training, and engineering support.
