You can also choose to save your points. Instead of choosing a reward level, simply set the "Redeem my Points" slider to "off," and you'll continue accumulating points until they either expire or you hit the account limit.

Redeeming points

After you sign in on the app, click the "Rewards" box on the right of the home page, then switch to the "Redeem" tab. You'll see the current reward level you have chosen. Click "Change Reward Level" to see all your options divided into four categories:

  • Beverages
  • Baked goods
  • Breakfast
  • Lunch & dinner

Once you select a level, your points will automatically be redeemed for items within that category when you buy one of them and have enough points to cover it.

How much are Tims Rewards points worth?

Tims Rewards points are worth anywhere from 3.2 to 8.0 cents per point, depending on what you redeem them for.

On average, you’ll get about 4.9 cents per point, though your best value comes from redeeming for baked goods like specialty donuts or bagels. Beverages and combo meals tend to offer slightly lower value per point, especially premium drinks and larger food items.

Using local Tim Hortons pricing, we broke down the cents-per-point (CPP) value for each reward level and item type. Here's what your points are really worth:

Hey Robert,

The Tim Hortons app can be installed from the App Store or Google Play.

You can also reach out to Tim Hortons customer service with any questions regarding your account, and they will hopefully be able to help you directly.

My uncle who is 83 is no longer able to redeem his free coffee since you updated your system to an online approach. He is a long time customer and was quite upset about this when the change was made a while ago. Surely there must be an option for this type of customer who does not have smart phones to still engage with you and your redemption program? Thanks and I look forward to your reply.

One thing you're forgetting with Starbucks rewards is they give regular points challenges to get additional stars. I bought 4 teas last week and earned 75 stars on top of the 2 stars per dollar spent because I pay using my reloaded card. A hell of a lot better than tim hortons!!

Yulia
Yulia |March 3, 2023
Hey Louis, Thanks for commenting! Bonus Stars are definitely nice, especially if the additional stars are offered for the drinks you like! Tim Hortons does have similar point challenges available in their app as well. We'll consider adding a comparison of these challenges in a future article update.

This article is misleading on points earned. You don't get 10 points for every dollar spent. You get 10 points for one transaction over one dollar. Every morning I spent a minimum of $9-$10 on breakfast and I only get 10 points.

Yulia
Yulia |March 3, 2023
Hey Mike, The Tims Rewards program was updated on February 21, 2023, and you should now get 10 points per $1 instead of a flat 10 points per visit. If you want, you can see how the old system compares with the newly updated one here.

You have to be kidding me!!! Spend $40 and get a free coffee? Tim Hortons is relying on the stupidity of Canadians to hopefully drive sales through a reward program. Unfortunately, it seems to be working. These so-called reward cards are nothing more than throwing pennies at the poor. Shame!

Hey Mak, Good question! I couldn't find any specific mention in the terms and conditions, but I did notice the speciality holiday donuts cost the same amount of points as the regular speciality donuts – so there's a good chance. Just make sure you have your redemption option set to the hot chocolate category in the app. That said, I would look into contacting Tims support for more direct help. Hope this helps!

I registered and activated for Tim Rewards. The problem is that not all the locations listed in the Order Section on my two phones allow me to pickup orders at certain locations. The 3 locations closest to H7X3N7 do not seem to allow pickups - most of the other locations are pre-set for pickup orders. Does that mean these 3 close locations do not allow pickup orders? Let me know please............... Regards, Ghislaine Michaud

Hey Ghislaine, Pickup isn't available at every Tims location. If your app doesn't list it as an option, it likely isn't available there. As Tims further expands this program, the app will be updated when new pickup locations are added.
